Please sign to Cease Use of Neonicotinoids on Seeds to Protect Bees and Our Environment
The Issue
As someone deeply concerned about our environment and the health of our pollinators, I am alarmed by the widespread use of neonicotinoids on seeds. These chemicals are not only harmful to bees, but they also pose a significant risk to our water systems when washed off fields into rivers, streams, and lochs.
Bees play an essential role in pollination, contributing to food security and biodiversity. However, their populations are declining at an alarming rate worldwide. According to a study published in Nature Communications (2015), neonicotinoids are linked with severe harm to honeybees at levels found in agricultural settings.
Moreover, these chemicals can contaminate our water systems posing potential risks for human health. The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has identified certain neonicotinoids as potential endocrine disruptors that could affect human hormonal systems.
The use of these harmful pesticides is not sustainable or safe for our environment or us. We must act now before it's too late! Please sign this petition urging authorities to ban the use of neonicotinoids on these sugar beet and any other seeds immediately!
