Show support in Keyanta receiving a Pardon from the Governor.
The Issue
My Name is Keyanta Moore, I’m a 30 year old man from Norfolk Virgina. I’m currently serving Life plus 113 years for aggravated malicious wounding and robbery. I got sentenced to a double life sentence at just 15 years old, with no prior convictions. The choice I made as a 15 year old teenager, is something I will regret for the rest of my life. I know what I did was wrong and if I could change it I would. Since I have been incarcerated I have changed a lot.
Since my incarceration i have worked tirelessly to better myself, to change who i was and become a man that i can be proud of, that my family can be proud of. I want to prove to everyone that i have rehabilitated, that rehabilitation is achievable when you truly work hard for it. I have completed my G.E.D, I’m taking a brick masonry course which i am really enjoying and am good at, completed victims impact program, Coping with stress anger management programme, a advanced anger management programme, Mind over Mood, Family Education and Relapse Prevention group. I have taken every course available to me to better myself. The counsellors and the Warden at the prison that I am located at have chosen to send support letters to the Governor on my behalf. Advocating for me to get a second chance.
I acknowledge what i did was wrong, i regret it every day of my life, I cannot change the past, and i cannot change what i did, and i hold myself fully accountable everyday of my life, to make sure nothing like this will ever happen again. I feel like my sentence was unusual and cruel, i was sentenced as a child to die in prison. I have spent as much time incarcerated as i did in society. I truly believe that if i was given a second chance i could contribute to society, and be a positive member to my community.
I'm asking you to please sign this petition. The more signatures I get, the better my chances are at coming home. The aim of my petition is for the Governor Glenn Youngkin to commute my sentence or for me to get parole.
