My neighbors and I are dog owners who yearn for a safe and easily accessible place for our furry family members to roam and play freely. Unfortunately, we lack an off-leash dog park within walking distance of our residence. As a practical and beneficial solution, we propose implementing off-leash dog park hours at Deboer Park.

Denver is an abundant city with dog owners. However, access to dog-friendly spaces, particularly off-leash dog parks, remains limited in certain areas. Deboer Park, a public space that could be used to rectify this imbalance, currently lacks off-leash hours. This proposed change is not only for dog owners’ convenience but also for the socialization, exercise, and well-being of our pets. Studies show that dogs who regularly interact with their kind are generally healthier and exhibit better behavior (Source: Journal of Veterinary Behavior).

Integrating off-leash dog park hours at Deboer Park would significantly enhance the quality of life for residents and their four-legged companions in the local neighborhood. It can also promote a closer and more interactive community. We are not asking for 24/7 off-leash access but designate hours that cater to our needs.
