First off, a special thanks to City Council member Eric Joyce (and staff) and our surprise guest, Oceanside Mayor Esther Sanchez, for taking the time to meet with us last night. We had a packed house and we went into overtime so that everyone could ask questions, and give personal examples of how this will negatively affect the community (from the local neighborhood to neighboring towns and counties). Our elected representatives stayed late and continued to meet with people as we were breaking down the event.
Please join us at 6 PM PST on February 15, 2023 when we will be presenting our concerns about the proposed Eddie Jones 566,905 sq ft Manufacturing/Warehouse/Distribution Facility in Oceanside, California to the Oceanside City Council.
The City Council Meeting will begin promptly at 6 PM PST at Oceanside City Hall, in the Council Chambers, located at 300 N. Coast Highway, Oceanside, CA 92054.
We need as many people as possible to pack the house!!! We are asking for everyone’s support so that we leave a lasting impression on the City Council and Mayor. We are also asking people to wear “BLUE” colored shirts to make a greater visual impression.
It won’t cost you anything but a few moments of your time, but standing shoulder to shoulder with your community will make a difference. LETS FILL THE ROOM!!!
This is really a battle for the the soul of our beach town.
Do we want to be a vacation destination that continues to bring in businesses that align with our beach city way of life and the environment? Or, do we want a giant Manufacturing, Warehouse, Distribution Facility 4 miles from the beach, next to a Federally Protected Habitat, next to our river bike trail, and next to the proposed outdoor Wave Park?
- If you are concerned about the Traffic on Hwy 76, this meeting is for you!!!
- If you are concerned about the Pollution and Environmental Impact that this will have on a Federally Protected Habitat (San Luis Rey River Watershed), three endangered animal species, and the local community, this meeting is for you!!!
- If you are concerned about the lack of transparency by the developer, this meeting is for you!!!
- If you are concerned about how this will affect safety and emergency services, this meeting is for you!!!
- If you are concerned about how this aligns with the city’s vision, this meeting is for you!!!
Background: The Eddy Jones Warehouse, Manufacturing and Distribution Facility is being proposed to be built on the 31.79 acres between the Oceanside Municipal Airport on Eddie Jones Way and Benet Rd and the residential development known as Airport. Our topic is not formally on the agenda but we will be presenting during the time allowed for public input.
ACTION ITEMS:
1. Please continue to share our petition (https://www.change.org/StopEddyJones) with your local community, friends, sports/social group, church, etc. ANYONE 18 years or older can sign the petition.
2. Please leave a comment on the petition about why you oppose the proposed development and “like” the existing comments. Even if you already signed the petition, you can go back to the petition website and leave a comment at any time. Comments humanize our concerns in a way that signatures cannot capture.
3. We are looking for volunteers that would be willing to sit outside of a popular Oceanside grocery store to collect paper signatures and communicate our concerns to the community. We already have permission from the grocery store. Volunteers would sit/stand at a card table and interact with people walking in and out of the store. If you would be willing to volunteer some of your time, please contact eddiejoneswarehouse@gmail.com
Thank you for your unwavering support.
