Please Help us reunite with our father
The Issue
Hi, my name is Kilisitina Autagavaia. My family came to Australia in 2009 on student visa. We came from Samoa with our two children aged 2 and 3 at the time. We got 3 kids who were born in Australia. In 2014 we were about to leave Australia and go back to Samoa, my son whom our first baby born in Australia was getting sick and diagnosed with Leukaemia. At the time we were so stressed out as we did not have Medicare and no work rights in Australia then we write to the Immigration regarding our situation and then issue us with full work rights and able to do Medicare. My husband Faaleaga Aisa was lucky enough to secure a construction job to one of the best company who helps us so much with everything. In 2015 my son passed away in November aged 6 and he is buried in Rookwood Cemetery.
From 2014 up until now we were on bridging visa. My husbands job is willing to sponsor us but we cant apply for a work visa. Two of my kids are Australian citizens now. In May 2023 the Border Force enter our house and took my husband. He has been in Villawood Detention Centre for 8 months now waiting for our Ministerial Intervention. The Immigration decline his visa because of character grounds which they refer to traffic offences which we explain the reason all behinds it when our son was sick but no one was injured or died from it. At the beginning of May before he went in, we went to the court and he was getting his licence back 2 weeks before he went in.
My husband was a good person. This is the first time he is away from us for a long time. Through covid times when everything was shut down he was still working because he was our only income earner. We have been working and paid taxes. He helps all the people that needs help. He helps some churches with their technician side of things.
Australia has been our home for 15 years now. This is the only country that my children knows and we have built our lives, worked hard and contributed to this country in countless ways. Going back to Samoa will be very hard for the kids and also I have my dad staying with us whom I am taking care of him as hes got health problems and he is an Australian citizens as well. My oldest daughter graduated from High School last year and get the chance to study at University of Technology studying Bachelor of Nursing but she cant do it because of our visa as her fee will be very expensive and its only me working now paying the rent and everything for 4 kids.
Please we really need your help to sign this petition so that the Minister will intervene in our case with giving us permanent resident and release my husband to us.
You are our last hope. Please you can sign and email to the Minister so that he can consider our case as soon as possible before they remove my husband from Australia..
