#TreeGate Mayor allegedly using public funds for cutting down tree near his private property.

I’m writing to update you on a serious issue affecting the integrity of our local government in Niagara Falls — a growing scandal now known as #TreeGate. Several residents have come forward about trees being removed from Mayor Restaino’s personal property, while countless citizens remain on waiting lists for the same city service. These removals appear to have bypassed normal procedures, raising alarming questions about abuse of public resources. In response, City Councilman Donta Myles — despite being an elected official with access to city records — filed a formal FOIL (Freedom of Information Law) request to ensure full transparency and accountability. He also sent written inquiries to the heads of every major city department, including Code Enforcement and Community Development, as well as to all members of the City Council. To date, no one has responded. This silence is unacceptable and suggests a coordinated attempt to avoid public scrutiny. It further highlights the need for a full investigation into these departments, especially those previously overseen by former Community Development Director Cliff Scott, who resigned at the end of 2024 under unclear circumstances. Residents have also raised additional concerns regarding: • Suspicious demolition contracts • City-appointed officials not residing in Niagara Falls • Internal whistleblowers sharing confidential information about misuse of city funds This isn’t just about trees — it’s about trust, transparency, and the accountability our city leadership owes to every resident of Niagara Falls. We must ask: Is Mayor Restaino using his power for personal benefit? Why is City Hall ignoring calls for answers? And who will be held accountable? As this investigation unfolds, I encourage you to stay informed, ask questions, and prepare to vote this November. The future of our city depends on residents like you taking a stand for good governance. a progress update, thank your supporters, or ask for help...
