Dear Supporters, 

The first court appearance for the accused Matthew Ligus is Wednesday, December 14/22 @ 4:00 PM.  It will be held virtually over Zoom (the court has not opened for in person hearings since COVID), at the Ringwood Municipal Court.  If you would like an invitation to join this hearing, please email Gianna Distasi: gianna.distasi@njcourts.gov and request your invite.  It seems invitations are sent out individually, upon request, and cannot be shared.

I will provide another update after the hearing.  Please note, this proceeding is for the civil charges Matthew Ligus faces for the illegal slaughter of 4 bear cubs, with an illegal firearm, ammo, and other civil charges.  If convicted, he only faces up to $6,000.00 in fines. 

We are still waiting to hear if there will be any criminal charges brought from Passaic County Prosecutor Palestini of the animal cruelty unit.  Please call Prosecutor Palatini and leave a message requesting an update on this case and our petition.  The more people who call and leave a message, the better our chances of success.  His number is:  973-881-4325
