Hello, everyone,
It has come to my attention that I have been misusing and abusing the insulin4all hashtag on Twitter, and for that I want to issue my sincerest apologies. I could not be more embarrassed. I started this automated message to include my username and the hashtag when the campaign first started and had few signees in an effort to get it in front of the right people and so I could easily engage with supporters, but failed to change it as it got bigger.
That is my mistake and I take full responsibility. I have now changed it to exclude any hashtags to foster and encourage organic conversation, and to not overrule any natural conversations that are already occurring around the hashtag.
I now realize its origins are from the Colorado campaign, and not a larger nationwide movement from the community itself. I am very grateful to the user who brought this to my attention and as a result has provided me the opportunity to change the automated message.
I ask you to please also use the hashtag sparingly if you have been and with purpose to create meaningful conversation and engage with people from across the nation and globe. It was never my intention to exclude, overtake, or ignore anyone from anywhere about any T1D-related issue as part of this campaign. I love and am open to conversation about T1D and healthcare issues from anyone. I am very sorry if it's come across any other way or if anyone has felt this way through the process of it.
I realize I should have been more conscious and careful about the suggested automated tweet as it grew, and I want to say to the T1D online community that I am very disappointed in myself for taking away from the wonderful and natural conversations many have on Twitter every day about issues facing our community. I have ample respect and appreciation for our community and I realize now that I mistreated it in an effort to get the message out there when this campaign first started.
I would never intentionally do this, and I am so very sorry I didn't give the automated message more thought as it grew.
I am taking responsibility for this mistake. I hope that you all know it was never my intention to SPAM the T1D online community. Twitter was mainly affected. As I stated earlier, I have since changed the suggested automated tweet to completely exclude hashtags. I hope this encourages and fosters natural conversation and weeds out the former automated messages very soon ...
I am so very sorry. I did not mean to overtake Twitter in any way, but I know I have and can't take it back. I can only change the present. Thank you for listening, and thank you for your support.
I cannot stress enough how sorry I am. I know it must be annoying, just like the hashtags have been, but I am really shaking over the disrupt I have caused T1Ds on Twitter.
Thanks for listening and all you've done.
Have a good night.
