**Urgent**
DLRCOCO have launched the latest Part 8 planning application for Shanganagh Park which again ignores the wishes of the overwhelming majority of stakeholders (including park users, the community, sports club members and officials) while failing to adequately address genuine threats to the ecosystem already under threat within and around the park.
We need:
- A full Environmental Impact Assessment to be undertaken by the Council to take a 360-degree view of the park, the challenges and opportunities, to replace now-dated plans and environmental studies, and to take into account the impact of recent and future developments;
- A plan that limits any large scale sports facilities (pitches and sprint track) and floodlighting in the central meadow; and
- An expansion of the Shanganagh Park footprint to deliver the positive elements of these plans in more appropriate locations to better serve the wants of sport, the wishes of the community, and the needs of the environment.
If you support the campaign to #SaveShanganaghPark, please visit www.dlrcoco.ie/Shanganagh23 to register your objections to the latest Council proposals and voice your support instead for the far more environmentally, socially and economically sustainable alternatives, consistently backed by a majority, that preserve the existing meadow and open spaces at the heart of the park while still supporting the enhancing and upgrading of existing sports facilities to increase playability and access.
Please share and encourage as many submissions as possible (e.g. if in a household of four, please encourage four individual submissions and not just one joint submission to cover all four).
The deadline to submit is 22 May 2023.
Thank you for your support to #SaveShanganaghPark
