Hi all, 

Our first step was successful with 100% of the Councillors accepting our petition when it was presented at the April Bayside Council Meeting. The Council Officers in the Planning Department are now preparing a report to be presented at the Bayside Council Meeting Tuesday 18th of June. 

The Councillors will debate whether to proceed with the Heritage study, report and necessary protection. 

There is likely to be some opposition however it is not an option to not do the work to protect Heritage.

Council has a responsibility for heritage preservation to “conserve and enhance those buildings, areas or other places which are of scientific, aesthetic, architectural or historical interest, or otherwise of special cultural value”.‐ Section 4(1)(d) of the Planning and Environment Act 1987.

This is a positive first step. We will share the outcomes from the 18th June Council Meeting.
