For the past two years the YSGA designed a two-tier well permit process that has proven weak with loopholes, that allowed a replacement well to be upgraded to new well construction, in addition to the approval of four new wells.
A historic non-irrigated property was recently sold, contingent on the approval of these wells, to install water and energy intensive olive plantations.
With this new acquisition the multinational corporation continues to expand their footprint in historic non-irrigated lands of the Dunnigan Hills, in Yolo County, California.
We are asking the Yolo County Board of Supervisors to impose a moratorium on any new well permits in the Focus Areas.
We would like the Board to rescind the five well permits, because the YSGA well permit system is flowed and does not adequately protect the Focus Area aquifers.
Please help us raise our voice once again, hoping to be taken seriously this time, as we have been asking the Boards to pay attention and reject the industrialization of the Dunnigan Hills region of Yolo County.
Gracias, Ricardo
