Save our Shires (SOS)

Apr 13, 2018
Guess what? A few months after the Trustees of CHL evicted their Shire Horses and vowed never to allow horses back onto the Estate, two horses are grazing in the main field and occupying the stables! Confused? Not as much as us! Three months ago the Trustees rejected our offer to lease two of their stables with grazing rights, now they have agreed to do precisely that! The new occupants aren't Shires but we welcome them anyway. They are on a short-term lease of only two months which will earn CHL the princely sum of £160 per month. To raise this money CHL has to repair the fractured water pipe in the stable block and mollify the local sheep farmer who has already paid CH for the grazing rights to the same field the horses occupy. Oops, double dipping isn't allowed. In short, CHL will lose money on this deal. Yet another glowing example of CHL's astute financial decision-making and management acumen. After all, they are a public charity???
