New arrivals??? Shire Horse Society endorsement; Heavy Horse World article & cyberspace beckons.

Save our Shires (SOS)
4 abr 2018
We have heard through the grapevine that the Trustees of Chawton House (CH) might have reconsidered their stance that ‘horses will not return to the Estate.’ This was their position when we met their nominees last December and proposed leasing their abandoned stables and grazing rights to acquire Heavy Horses at our own expense. Our proposal was rejected, but now we hear that they may have appropriated our plan and decided to lease out their facilities, just not to ‘Save Chawton Shires (SCS)’. If horses are restored as tenants at the stables SCS would obviously welcome their presence. Any new occupants are unlikely to be the endangered species of Heavy Horses though. Our objective of providing a rescue and breeding centre for rare breeds will not have been accomplished. I wonder if the Trustees had the audacity to ask their potential new tenant to submit a Business Plan as they did with us? Why does CH’s Board continue to discriminate against Heavy Horses? On other developments, the Board of the Shire Horse Society has confirmed their support of our objectives, following a referral from their Patron Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. We welcome their endorsement and understand that they will write to CH’s Trustees. Our cause will also be featured in the forthcoming edition of ‘Heavy Horse World’. Essential reading. We will launch a new website soon and will advise you all when it arrives in cyberspace.
