FINAL DAY to Vote NO to the Re-Development of George Ben Park
This is a final reminder that the City of Toronto's survey on the proposed redevelopment of George Ben Park closes TONIGHT, Monday, October 26 at 11:59 PM.
The City has released four proposed designs for the park, and this is our last opportunity to make our concerns heard through the City's consultation process.
As outlined in our original petition, our concerns include:
Loss of green space: Paving over existing grass and natural areas that residents currently enjoy.
Increased noise: The potential for ongoing noise from sports activities, particularly near neighbouring homes.
Safety and security: Concerns about increased disruptive activity, loitering, and the impact on the peaceful enjoyment of the park.
Impact on the neighbourhood: Permanently changing the character of a small community green space.
Importantly, the survey includes a fifth option: "None of these options reflects my preference. Please explain why below:"
If none of the proposed designs addresses your concerns, you can select this option and explain why. If you prefer one of the proposed designs, Options 4 and 3 appear to preserve more green space than the other alternatives.
The survey also asks for your postal code. Responses from residents in the immediate neighbourhood, including M6J, M6G, M6H, and M5V, may be particularly relevant to the City's assessment. Help the City understand responses are coming from concerned residents and users of the park.
