UPDATE OCTOBER 23, 2023:

Today I will endeavour to draw an analogy between a baseball game and Andrew's present heartbreaking situation. Andrew played in several National Baseball Tournaments throughout Canada representing P.E.I. He was a pitcher, first baseman and outfielder.

Today I am assuming the position of an UMPIRE. The UMP is in charge of a game, as are members of his crew. In other sports they are known as refs.

Andrew was well known for his KNUCKLE BALL which is thrown with no spin. It tends to flutter and move suddenly and erratically on its way to home plate. It is very difficult to hit. I would consider Andrew's mental illness a KNUCKLE BALL.

The BASEBALL FIELD or DIAMOND is where the game of baseball is played. Andrew's baseball game was played homeless on the streets of Toronto.

The DUGOUT is where active players who are not on the field sit on a bench and watch the play. These are the thousands of residents of Ontario and P.E.I. who read my daily posts, sent photos with date, time, and location and signed the PLEASE BRING ANDREW BRYENTON HOME TO P.E.I. PETITION. There are presently 10813 signatures.

There are also the hundreds of BASEBALL FANS who are caring individuals and provided Andrew with food, water, money and clothing since January 2023.

At every Major League Baseball game there is a BASEBALL ANNOUNCER and media. In Andrew's situation there were the Toronto radio stations, Tor-Star, Globe and Mail, CBC Television and Radio, The Guardian, Eastern Graphic and the Blog written by Marvin Ross detailing Andrew's story as it unfolded.

Andrew's journey has been a NAIL BITER or close game. We filed six Form 2s. Each time, we would anxiously await the result from the Justice of the Peace or Judge.

Then we would wait for the PITCH which is a baseball delivered from the pitcher's MOUND to the batter. The PITCH could be a HIT, BALL, or STRIKE. Andrew would either be granted the Form 2 and taken to hospital or our application would be declined. Then we would wait for the SECOND BALL. Would the hospital admit Andrew for up to 72 hours or discharge him? Then we would wait for the THIRD BALL. Would Andrew be kept on a Form 3 for an additional two weeks? It definitely was a NAIL BITER!

CLUTCH is good performance under pressure when good performance really matters. I wrote a chronological collateral information document. This assisted the Justice of the Peace, Toronto Police and Humber River Hospital psychiatrist greatly. I also mustered up the courage to speak with the various forms of the media regarding Andrew's story.

I have used a Bat over the past year SWINGING at BALLS as they were thrown at me. I would SWING TO THE FENCES attempting a HOME RUN. These were the hurdles and roadblocks that we encountered such as Andrew being taken to CAMH and not admitted. We also had two Form 2s denied. In addition, we also had some very negative posts regarding our situation. I handled each with dignity and respect.

A GRAND SLAM which is a HOME RUN hit with the bases loaded is what we are seeking. I am referring to the Medical Transfer home to P.E.I.

We do not want any ERRORS which is a FIELDER'S misplay which allows a BATTER or BASERUNNER to reach one or more additional BASES when in the judgement of the OFFICIAL SCORER, that advance could have been prevented by ordinary effort. In other words, the medical transfer must be approved on compassionate grounds. Andrew having a mental illness, living on the streets of Ontario, and being absent from P.E.I. should be considered as an extenuating circumstance.

It is our desire to have Andrew reach a HOME RUN (or homer) which is a BASE HIT in which the BATTER is able to circle all the BASES, reaching HOME PLATE safely and SCORING a RUN himself!

Another lady sent the following message, "It is so powerful how a loving community can move its members for an altruistic reason."

Andrew is doing well taking his medications orally. He mostly stays in his private room, but in the evening he comes out for a stroll in the unit hallways. The nurses say he is very polite and enjoys his meals.

Please continue to pray that Andrew receives a medical transfer to P.E.I.

I realize that I have been posting about Andrew since January 2023.  Andrew has had a long and very difficult journey and so have we, as his parents.  I have tried my best to be upbeat and to make the posts interesting. 

It is my nature, as an author, to write creatively.  I delivered both good and bad news to you over these many months. Many people have asked me to continue with updates and I will certainly do that.
