Responsible Growth Pleasanton
12 lug 2016
We are happy to report that after much effort and volunteer time, on July 19th at 7pm at 200 Old Bernal Ave, the City Council will be voting on whether to place the citizens' initiative limiting big box stores and a proposed Costco within the proposed 40-acre Johnson Drive Economic Development Zone, on the November ballot.
Unfortunately, the fight just to get this initiative that over 7,000 residents signed, qualified for the November ballot is not quite over as the Council could still try to stall by asking for further study and analysis.
The measure must be approved by August 12th but the City Council conveniently canceled their meeting for August 2nd and won't be meeting again until after the deadline for placing the measure on the Nov. ballot has passed. That means the measure must be approved for placement on the November ballot at the July 19th meeting or an expensive taxpayer paid special election will have to be held later.
It is imperative that we show up in big numbers at the July 19th City Council meeting at 7pm (200 Old Bernal Ave.) to make sure that the city does the right thing and lets voters decide this issue in November. It is sad but true that we need to do all that we can to keep these development friendly representatives honest.
