Petition updateSupport Responsible Growth in Pleasanton- Say NO to More Traffic and Big Box StoresThank you for the HUGE turnout at the Johnson Drive EDZ Meeting
Responsible Growth Pleasanton
Nov 13, 2015
Thank you to all who came to the Johnson Drive EDZ Community Meeting last night. There were well over 100 people in attendance all vehemently opposed to the EDZ and a Costco on the site. Many people spoke in opposition to the project and its impacts of increased traffic congestion, quality of life impacts, and the negative effects that a Big Box retailer will have on our existing locally owned businesses. There were two City Council members there (Karla Brown and Kathy Narum) and one Planning Commissioner (Nancy Allen) and they were able to experience first-hand the significant opposition to this project. This was a great showing and very encouraging to have so many people come. We must continue to have turn-outs like this if we hope to stop the project!
The next opportunity to do this will be at the City Council meeting on November 17th. This project is not on the agenda, but at the beginning of the meeting there is opportunity for anyone to speak (limited to three minutes) on any subject. The Agenda item is called Meeting Open to the Public. Since City Council meetings are televised, this is a good opportunity to let the broader community know what’s going on. This kind of outreach will be essential to building a critical mass to force the Council to reject this project, and if it comes to it, have enough people to help overturn a City Council approval by gathering signatures to put it to a public vote. Please come to the Council meeting on the 17th, wear a RED shirt, and let the Council know your feelings. It’s never too early to start this effort.
Where and when:
Tuesday, November 17, 2015
7:00 p.m.
City Council Chamber
200 Old Bernal Avenue
Thank again and keep the faith!
(Thank you for the update Matt S.)
