Candidate challenge from the Citizens Promoting Smart Development in Plantation. Last week we issued a challenge to each candidate for City Council. We asked them to commit to oppose the 110 unit attempted land use plan amendment (LUPA) proposed by Lennar on the Hiatus/Broward School Board (BCSB) lot. To date, the following candidates have affirmatively committed to oppose the project.

They are, as follows:

Jennifer Andreau (Group 3) (https://www.electjenniferandreu.com/)

Jennifer Izaguirre (Group 3) (www.Izaguirreforcouncil.com)

Siobhan Edwards (Group 4) (https://electedwards2020.com/index.html)

Tim Fadgen (Group 4)

Rob Koreman (Group 5) (https://www.koremanforcouncil.com/)

We thank each of these candidates.

Four candidates, including two incumbents (Nick Sortal and Ron Jacobs) have yet to publicly commit to oppose the project.

The Citizens Promoting Smart Development in Plantation is nearly 1000 strong and will be endorsing candidates in each group for City Council as well as submitting an OP-ED for publication in the Sun Sentinel. What has become patently clear is that the intelligent and inquiring citizens in Plantation want more of a “say” in the future development of the City as it affects traffic gridlock, property values, crime, and the preservation of our local landscape and ecologic lifeblood. Smart and Mindful Development is no longer a wave of the future. It is very much the "Present." Either candidates will wake up to this reality or they will be left behind. If you are one of the remaining candidates who have not yet seen and committed to the present, it’s time. Reach out and publicly commit your opposition to this row (townhome) barracks of a project.

Your constituents are counting on you.
