Your voice is desperately needed this week —in March, COVID-19 interrupted the three-month time period the LTD gave the public to speak our mind about the proposed Transit Tomorrow bus system redesign plans.  In April, the LTD Board of Directors decided not to publicly release an alternative route plan and voted to ‘pause the Transit Tomorrow process until all COVID-19 restrictions are lifted”.
According to their website, this was “so the community can participate in a meaningful way.”
TUESDAY, AUGUST 19th at. 5:30-7:30 via zoom meeting, the board of directors will vote to resume the Transit Tomorrow decision making process. If this happens, tell the board to 1) Release their alternative route plan to the public, and 2) Include the promised 3 more months of meaningful public engagement, including the previously planned public comment forum.
To be clear, we do not believe this is the proper time to be burdening already-overburdened community members with weighing in on bus system redesign at all—during a national emergency is a time to pause issues of major civic importance other than the emergencies at hand.  We fundamentally believe in the power of public transportation to transform lives and communities and demand that the public be given the power to inform and participate in the creation of any dramatic route redesign in our community.

Write to clerk@ltd.org or your LTD board member, and attend/make public comment at this week’s 8/19 5:30 online meeting! Details and agenda here:
