Vote District 2 - Lincoln/Roseville - I want to provide an update on the proposed shelter. Placer County Board of Supervisors were just presented phase 1 of the county funded task force on May 10, which is available to view on the county BOS website, this presentation outlined recommendations to address our county homeless. Placer County Storehas not shown any increase in homeless, according to the point in time count (PITC), over the last three years.
There are still many political leaders who are very supportive of building a massive one-stop shelter in our community, or a large sobering center, within the same area. Please be informed, before you go to the ballot and vote for District 2 Board of Supervisor, of their position on this massive shelter/sobering center for our community.
Scott Alvord has publicly stated that he will support this shelter in our community and has been personally involved in building a 500+ bed homeless shelter, at this location in South Placer, for many years. Make sure you know Shanti Landon and Paul Joiner’s position on this proposal, before you vote, if you are in District 2.
The goal of this petition was started to inform our community, and our political leaders, that building a large one-stop homeless shelter/sobering center within our community is unacceptable. We don’t want to create an issue where we don't have one today. The county has a wide range of services, for the homeless, which is the reason we have not seen the significant growth of homeless like every other city in California.
Important: Before you vote please know where all the candidates stand on this position, including the Board of Supervisors, City Council members and state and local leaders.
This is going out to over 12,000 citizens, that have signed this petition, opposing the size and the location of this shelter. This is also being sent to the Placer County Board of Supervisors.
Please continue to reach out to your Mayor, City Council members and the Placer County Board of Supervisors with your opposition to this proposed shelter.
Thank you for your support.
