The fundraising for our local reentry program, FirstFollowers, where I am a Co-Director has just passed $10K. This is momentous for us. With a couple thousand more we will be able to finance our workforce and community development course-a program that will propel formerly incarcerated folks into the job world and into the community with the spirit of social justice and giving back. We hope to support individuals like Casandis Hunt who has turned her life around and now works full-time at the University of Illinois as well as being a key inspiration for our efforts to create a transition house for people returning home to our community.
