Swedes dog park is a park where you can bring your dog to run around and get some exercise. Today, March 17th, 2020 at 3:30p.m. the township closed the park up until further notice over (I’m assuming) coronavirus fears. Swedes Run is an open space for dogs to run free but with it closing until further notice, dogs and owners will be trapped indoors. For the governor to close all parks in New Jersey, it is taking away not only our freedom but the dogs freedom as well. At the park, people practice social distancing (6 feet apart from each other) and dogs can NOT contract COVID-19. All owners that go to this park are very responsible and love their dogs very much hence why we only choose Swedes Dog Run and no other (park). There are so many reasons why Swedes should remain open to the public; while only listing a few, this closing will not only effect owners mental health, but also physical health as well. With the gyms now closed, we have no where else to go; the dog park is our last hope... until I got a text from a friend letting me know they’re closing the park too. My solution is to add hand sanitizer stations to the park. It’s that simple. There is no need to shut down an outdoor public space for this matter. Please sign this petition as the park is a huge part of not only healthy and happy life but for the sake of our dogs too.
