I have a hamster and bought a cage from PetSmart and they told me that the All Living Things: Easy Clean Cage was suitable. It is very small for even a dwarf hamster. The cage they sold to me 150-200 square in. Hamsters need at least 450 square in of floor space and 6 in of bedding because they need to be able to burrow. The cage is too small and can cause stress behaviors such as monkey baring, bar bitting, etc. Hamsters also need at least an 8 in wheel and the wheel it came with ( the only wheel that would fit) was 5 1/2- 6 in. Too small of a wheel can make a hamsters back curve and cause permanent back damage. Also, the area in most of there cages does not have enough space to put 6 in of bedding. It’s terrible that they don’t actually care about the animals and just want the money. they, also have Critter Trail / Tiny Tails cages witch are mostly directed towards kids and are very small. Pet Smart doesn't care as long as their making money. If Pet Smart were to sell suitable cages or bins and supplies to make your own enclosure and sell the Niteangel products to provide your hamster the proper enrichment they would make more money then selling unsuitable cages.  is If you own a hamster and have bought a cage from Pet Smart that is too small, please do your research and upgrade your enclose.
