The Issue

On March 22, 2025, residents of Okanagan Falls voted in favour of municipal incorporation following a comprehensive two‑year study. We respectfully ask the Province of British Columbia and Minister Christine Boyle to honour these commitments and ensure the process is completed with transparency, fairness, and timeliness.

Key Concerns

  • Limited community representation in meetings between the Province, RDOS, and Indigenous groups.
  • Insufficient transparency regarding Indigenous consultations prior to the referendum.
  • New conditions introduced after the vote, despite earlier assurances of no boundary, name, or service changes.

Our Requests

We respectfully ask the Province to:

  • Appoint an Interim Corporate Officer, ensure local community representation in all relevant meetings, and provide regular, clear updates on the progress of incorporation and Indigenous consultations.
  • Finalize the Letters Patent promptly, allowing an election for mayor and council this fall/winter.
  • Ensure a timely incorporation process, avoiding the introduction of new requirements unless fully justified.
  • Uphold B.C’s Local Government Act, leaving matters such as naming and boundaries to the newly elected council.
    Our Commitment

This petition does not oppose Reconciliation or Indigenous consultation. It calls for fair process, transparency, and respect for the democratic decision made by Okanagan Falls residents.

Please sign to support a fair and timely path to incorporation for the District Municipality of Okanagan Falls.
