Petition to VJTI for rescheduling TY EXTC exams
The Issue
To the Dean (Academics), Controller of Examinations and Department of Electronics, VJTI Mumbai.
We, the students of Third-Year B.Tech EXTC, request the institute and the Department of Electronics to reconsider the recently announced End Semester Examination (ESE) schedule for the Odd Semester 2026–27.
As per the official academic calendar, ESE examinations were scheduled between 23rd November and 5th December 2026. Students, particularly hostel residents and those travelling to their hometowns, planned their vacations and booked return tickets accordingly, mostly for 7th December onwards.
However, the examination circular dated 2nd November states that Third-Year examinations will commence from 26th November. The Mechanical Engineering timetable, for instance, extends up to 10th December, and other departments with seven subjects may face a similar situation.
This unexpected extension beyond the published academic calendar has caused considerable inconvenience, financial implications and uncertainty for students who have already made travel arrangements.
We also understand that the CS/IT departments have accommodated students' requests by revising their schedules to conclude examinations by 7th December.
Our Request
We sincerely request the Electronics Department to:
- Revise and prepone the EXTC examination schedule so that all examinations conclude no later than 7th December 2026.
- Consider a similar scheduling arrangement to that adopted by the CS/IT departments.
- Maintain reasonable gaps between examinations while accommodating students' concerns.
We understand the academic and administrative constraints involved. However, students should be able to rely on the officially published academic calendar while planning their personal commitments.
We request the institute administration and the Electronics Department to consider our appeal sympathetically and take timely action.
