We, the undersigned citizens of the United States, call on our elected leaders to take immediate steps to prevent a new war in the Middle East.

As tensions mount between Iran, Israel, and the United States, it is critical that our government prioritize diplomacy, de-escalation, and peaceful solutions — not military action.

Another U.S.-led war in the region would have catastrophic consequences:

• Loss of thousands of American and civilian lives.
• Billions of dollars wasted on war instead of healthcare, education, and domestic needs.
  Increased risk of nuclear escalation and global conflict.
• Further destabilization of the Middle East.
• Generational harm to U.S. service members and their families.

We call on the President and Congress to:

1. Oppose any unauthorized use of military force against Iran.
2. Require that any potential military action first be debated and authorized by Congress, as mandated by the U.S. Constitution.
3. Use all diplomatic channels to prevent further escalation, including back-channel talks and working through the United Nations.
4. Pursue diplomacy and work with international allies to seek a ceasefire and peaceful resolution to the conflict.

The American people do not want another endless war. We urge our leaders to choose diplomacy — and peace — before it is too late.
