Petition to the Government of Israel Regarding the Global Sumud Flotilla
Petition to the Government of Israel Regarding the Global Sumud Flotilla
Il problema
To the Government of the State of Israel,
We, the undersigned, respectfully submit this petition concerning the arrival of the so‑called Global Sumud Flotilla and its declared intention to reach the coast of Gaza.
Our request is simple: allow the flotilla to dock in Gaza without obstruction.
This position is grounded in a clear and well‑documented assessment of the flotilla’s actual purpose. Numerous observers have noted that the primary objective of such initiatives is not the delivery of humanitarian aid, but rather the creation of a political confrontation. The flotilla’s organizers openly seek to provoke an interception, generate a diplomatic incident, and reinforce an anti‑Israeli narrative on the international stage. Their strategy depends entirely on being stopped.
Permitting the vessels to land would therefore frustrate this objective. It would deny the organizers the confrontation they seek and expose the symbolic nature of their mission. If, as widely reported, the flotilla carries no meaningful humanitarian supplies, allowing it to dock would make this fact immediately visible to the world. The result would be a political and media outcome opposite to the one intended by the organizers.
A precedent already exists. When a similar “solidarity flotilla” was allowed to dock freely in Cuba, the initiative quickly lost all visibility and political impact. It faded from public discussion precisely because it failed to generate the confrontation its organizers had hoped for. The same dynamic would apply here.
For these reasons, we respectfully urge the Government of Israel to adopt a strategic, calm, and confident approach:
let the Global Sumud Flotilla dock.
Doing so would neutralize its political aims, demonstrate transparency, and reaffirm that no genuine humanitarian assistance is being obstructed.
We thank you for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
