Please sign the petition to support student choice and encourage the school board to update their uniform policy! 

  Schools in Terrebonne Parish and many other school districts in the area have a uniform policy set in place. This is an outdated, less effective, rule that causes more drawbacks than benefits and creates unnecessary challenges to our school community. 

  With poverty rates in Houma, we know uniforms are expensive for families, especially those with multiple children. Aside from that, mandatory uniforms also make children feel restricted, unsupported, and overlooked. There are other ways for children to have a form of unity without being confined to the same clothes. We should embrace the differences between children and teens in our schools. You can still have professionalism among students while also promoting individuality. 

    For parents concerned about students dressing inappropriately, remember that having no uniforms does not mean having no dress code!
