Our Community Still Unimpressed, Still Unanswered, and Now Mobilizing
Despite overwhelming public concern, West Lafayette City Mayor continues to dismiss opposition to SK Hynix’s massive industrial project, this time as mere “resistance to change”, even comparing the huge heavy industrial zone to high-rise buildings near her home. Rather than listen to residents, the city mayor continues standing publicly with a multibillion-dollar foreign corporation, using their promises as justification for safety. (Read "WL Mayor Easter: ‘Still confident in SK hynix.’ A Q&A" by Dave Bangert).
Meanwhile, SK Hynix’s second “community meeting” offered no new information or accountability, just poster boards, scattered reps, and isolated one-on-one chats. (Read: SK Hynix’s second community information session leaves many unimpressed by Purdue Exponent coverage)
Purdue Research Foundation made it plain: This was never about public input. "This has been PRF’s plan for the land, owned by the organization since 1955, for decades. Neighbors have been living next to industry-designated space since they moved in." This is PRF, a private organization's internal vision, regardless of current zoning, infrastructure impact, or the lives of nearby residents. Neighbors, did any of you know this PRF plan when you moved in? Read ( Concerns raised, project defended at 2nd SK Hynix community meeting, by Journal & Courier coverage)
Now is the time to act. Many councilors remain undecided (read "SK hynix rezone: WL City Council moving closer to yes vote on $3.87B site?" By Dave Bangert)
- Contact your city councilor (see emails at the end). Tell them to vote NO on rezoning Site B following APC's recommendation
- Remind them they are elected to represent residents, not powerful institutions with private interests.
- Sign and Share the petition: [Link] & Sign Name and Address Form

Let your neighbors know: this decision affects the future of our entire city.
This is not about resisting progress.
It’s about protecting our neighborhoods, demanding accountability, and insisting that public process matters.
West Lafayette deserves better than vague reassurances and rushed decisions.
