To Whom It May Concern
My name is Elena Barcenas and I’m the owner of Rincón Salvadoreño in Jamaica, Queens. As a local businesswoman, operating in our community for nearly 45 years, I’m writing to express my heartfelt support for Queens Together and to urge you to do whatever you can to help this organization continue its crucial work.
Queens Together has served as a beacon of hope and support for local businesses like ours and has touched the lives of so many of our neighbors in the Queens community.
Our journey with Queens Together has helped us to extend the hospitality we strive for at our restaurant outside the confines of our walls. Through their initiatives, we have had the pleasure of providing free holiday lunches to the cherished seniors in our community. Witnessing their smiles and hearing their stories as they enjoyed a meal in a festive atmosphere was a reminder of the powerful role food plays in bringing people together.
Another important part of their mission, which we were honored to participate in, is feeding migrants in our community. We were able to feed 200 migrants, ensuring they enjoyed a hot, family-style meal. This event, about fighting hunger and also offering a sense of belonging and comfort, truly embodied the spirit of community and compassion.
Queens Together has also been instrumental in our outreach efforts. Their dedication to organizing events throughout Queens has significantly helped in boosting our business presence and connecting us with wider audiences. This exposure has been vital, especially in these challenging and tumultuous times, where every opportunity to showcase our culinary heritage and hospitality makes a difference.
It is important to recognize that Queens Together is more than just a non-profit organization; it is a lifeline for many local businesses. They have been pivotal in helping us, and so many others, stay afloat and adapt during these uncertain times. Their support goes beyond financial aid; it is about fostering a community of businesses that can lean on each other, learn from each other, and grow together.
I urge you to continue your support for Queens Together. Their work is essential for the sustenance and growth of our local businesses and the community at large. The impact of their work is profound and far-reaching, creating ripples of positivity and solidarity across Queens.
Thank you for considering my perspective and for your ongoing support of this indispensable organization.
Sincerely,
Elena Barcenas
