Re: Request to Remove Paid Visitor Parking at Upper Shore Townhomes (1814 Shore Rd & 2050 Kains Rd, London, ON)
We, the undersigned residents of Upper Shore Townhomes at 1814 Shore Rd and 2050 Kains Rd, respectfully request that CAPREIT reconsider and reverse its recent decision to implement paid visitor parking throughout our community.
For many years, visitor parking has been provided free of charge and has been a valued amenity relied upon by residents and their guests. The sudden installation of paid parking signs without advance notice has caused widespread concern and frustration.
Our concerns include:
• No advance notice or consultation with residents.
• A long-standing amenity has effectively been reduced.
• The change creates a financial burden for family, friends, caregivers, tradespeople and support workers.
• Paid visitor parking is not consistent with the expectations of a residential neighbourhood.
• The change affects residents across both Upper Shore Townhomes communities.
We respectfully request that CAPREIT:
1. Suspend enforcement of the paid visitor parking program while resident concerns are reviewed.
2. Remove the paid visitor parking program and restore free visitor parking.
3. If changes are necessary, consult with residents first and consider reasonable alternatives such as visitor permits or a limited free parking period.
We value our community and hope CAPREIT will work collaboratively with residents to find a fair solution.
