The NYSDOT has released the draft 2026–2029 State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP). This covers all federally funded transportation improvement projects for Region 8 which includes Columbia, Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Ulster, and Westchester counties.

Starting on page 68 of the draft, you’ll find ~5 items related to Newburgh–Beacon transportation (ferry & shuttle). We encourage you to review these items and submit your comments for reinstating the ferry, expanding the hours of operation, piloting the weekend ferry service, improving the wayfinding, visibility and marketing of the service.

Public comment period ends: December 10, 2025

Send your comments to: STIP@dot.ny.gov and CC: asorensen@orangecountygov.com, mdebald@dutchessny.gov, savetheferry.hv@gmail.com
