The issue

We, concerned citizens of Fiji, call for the urgent removal of Abel Camillo and his political party, “Lion of Judah,” from contesting in the 2026 national election.

Abel Camillo’s public behavior has already raised serious concerns. His conduct on social media — including hate speech, public threats towards individuals and their families, and aggressive responses to those who challenge him — violates the standards expected of any individual seeking public office.

Under Fiji’s Public Order Act (Cap 20), Section 17, it is an offense to:

“Use words or behave in a manner likely to incite racial or communal antagonism.”

Further, under the Crimes Act 2009, Section 336, it is illegal to:

“Make a threat to kill or cause serious harm to any person.”

Abel Camillo’s actions also appear to breach the Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Act 2009, which prohibits speech or actions that promote racial hatred or endanger public safety.

His behavior is not only irresponsible but also dangerous, especially in a nation that values unity, peace, and respect among its diverse communities. His repeated public statements — which include offensive language directed even at the Indigenous Fijian community he claims to support — show a serious lack of judgment and leadership qualities.

The people of Fiji deserve leaders who uphold the law, promote respect, and work towards the common good. Political candidates must be held to a higher standard, especially when they seek to represent the voices of our communities.

For these reasons, we respectfully urge the Electoral Commission and relevant authorities to take immediate action to review Abel Camillo’s eligibility under the law. Our democracy must be protected from individuals whose actions threaten public harmony and safety.

Please sign this petition to stand for a peaceful, united, and respectful Fiji.
