Five years ago, in March 2018, Ana and her Best Friend Brando were killed by Francisco Alvarez. It wasn't accidental, they were killed by his dangerous decision to get behind the wheel while intoxicated that night. Alvarez was arrested in August, 2023 because he, again, made the reckless decision to get behind the wheel while intoxicated. There is no reason he should have been released after he killed my sister, and now we see Alvarez continuing to drive under the influence. I urge everyone to help us put him away by signing this petition. We cannot lose another life. This offender’s subsequent arrest for another DUI highlights the glaring inadequacy in our current legal framework. It is clear that we must take immediate action by implementing swift sentencing measures specifically tailored toward DUI- related deaths. Together we need to gather as much support as we can to finally get Francisco Alvarez behind bars for what he did! We can make a difference and honor the memories of not just Ana & Brando, but to those who have all lost their lives to DUI’s. This is a preventable tragedy and we are asking you from the bottom of our hearts please sign this petition today demanding Swift sentencing for DUI incidents. The city of Escondido needs to send a clear message that we will not just stand back and let offenders get away with this, but rise up together and show that we will not tolerate these actions.
