#FixPolitics, a citizens-led, research-based movement designed to structurally change and innovate politics in Nigeria and Africa as a whole, joins other Civil Society Organisations and Nigerians in their numbers to recognize the milestone in our advocacy for electoral reforms and also congratulate Nigerians and society for staying the course until the President signed the electoral Bill into law. #FixPolitics remains consistent in its belief that only the inclusion of a Referendum in the Constitution will ensure that the citizens define the constitutional framework by which they live with each other. However, we recognise the incremental milestone which the new Electoral Act heralds: the potential for a new dimension to politicking and electioneering in our political spaces. As Nigerians celebrate the significance of the new Electoral Act, #FixPolitics calls on citizens and civil society groups to prioritize the welfare of all Nigerian peoples in the ongoing constitutional amendment process. The National Assembly is hereby called upon to give attention to the issue of referendum in the constitution. May God bless Nigeria.
