The Issue

We, the undersigned Business & Property owners in Ohio City, urge the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA), City of Cleveland leadership, and Cuyahoga County officials to reconsider the current plan to install dedicated bus lanes “BRT Lanes” on West 25th Street from Detroit Avenue to Monroe Avenue.

PLEASE SIGN TODAY & INDICATE IN THE COMMENTS WHAT BUSINESSES / PROPERTIES YOU REPRESENT OR IF YOU'RE A RESIDENT OR OHIO CITY VISITOR.

In addition to signing this petition, please come voice your opposition to this current plan by attending the public meeting held on Wednesday 8/13 at Urban Community School.

We support improved public transit, but removing the on-street parking lanes will:
- Eliminate a critical safety buffer that slows traffic and protects pedestrians and cyclists
- Reduce customer accessibility, hurting small, locally owned businesses and decreasing foot traffic
- Undermine the economic vitality of the West Side Market district and surrounding shops, restaurants, and services

We call for a balanced approach that keeps on-street parking while improving safety and transit through:
- Strategic curb extensions
- Clearly marked & elevated crosswalks that act as speed tables calming traffic
- Advanced traffic signalling
- Speed bumps/tables for traffic calming & life safety
- Repairing/replacing crumbling sidewalks along West 25th Street & replacing dead trees

Our request: Work with the Ohio City community to design a West 25th Street that is safe, has a visually appealing streetscape, is transit-friendly, and economically thriving for everyone who lives, works, and visits the beautifuyl Ohio City neighborhood.
