Petition to keep semester schedules at Patapsco High School!

The Issue

Since the 2022 school year, Patapsco High School in Baltimore County Public Schools (BCPS),  has operated on a semesterized schedule. This change is not small; it had a profound impact on our academic environment. Statistically speaking, we have seen improvements across the board - in academics, attendance rates, and social interactions among students.

BCPS has been striving to make its students "college-ready". The semesterized schedule adopted by Patapsco and two other BCPS high schools are taking clear step towards achieving this goal. Semesters lighten the workload while maintaining the required level of critical thinking for students.

However, there are plans to revert back to "A"/"B" schedules. We believe this would be a step backward for our students, staff, and community. The current system works; it prepares us better for college life and beyond. We urge BCPS not force Patapsco to revert back but rather allow Patpasco to maintain the current 'semesterized' schedule.

We need your signature on this petition to show your support for maintaining progress in our educational system at Patapsco. Your signature will send a strong message to the BCPS board of education and show that we value this effective education strategy that Patapsco has implemented to truly prepare our youth for their future endeavors and improve the education landscape.
