The Issue

Sunny Sweeney is not just a country singer. Sunny Sweeney bleeds country music.  Sunny Sweeney is the kind of artist that  the Grand Ole Opry was made for.

Having played the Opry 77 times as of Friday, August 1st, 2025, she brings the same wide-eyed love and deep reverence that makes the Opry feel like home. Not just to her, but to the audience as well.

Sunny doesn’t just play the Opry. She lives and breathes it. She talks about it like it’s her church. Everyone who knows her (or has seen her live) can tell you, this isn’t just another gig to her. It’s sacred. If she had to choose only one gig to play for the rest of her life, I guarantee there would be no hesitation. She would choose the Opry over and over again in every lifetime.

Her new album, Rhinestone Requiem, dropped on Friday, August 1, and it’s already climbing the charts. As of Sunday night, August 3 at 10:45 PM, it hit #7 on the iTunes Country chart. That kind of support doesn’t come out of nowhere. It comes from years of connection, honesty, and showing up for the music and the people who love it.

It’s time. And honestly, it’s long overdue. Sunny Sweeney deserves more than anyone to be invited to become a member of the Grand Ole Opry.  She’s earned it. Through her talent, her integrity, her years of paying dues, and most of all, her unwavering love and appreciation for country music and for the Opry itself.

If you agree, be a part of making this dream of Sunny’s a reality. Please sign and share this petition.  There is no one more deserving of this honor.
