We, the undersigned, call on Google to take stronger action against fake reviews that harm Canadian businesses.

Fake reviews on Google can severely damage a business’s reputation, leading to financial loss and unfair harm. Google’s review system plays a major role in consumer decision-making, but without proper verification, businesses remain vulnerable to fraudulent reviews.

To ensure fairness and protect businesses, we propose the following changes:

1- Require Verified Purchases or Experiences – Only allow reviews from customers who have actually used a service or purchased a product to prevent misleading feedback.
2- Mandatory ID Verification for Reviewers – Require users to verify their identity before posting a review, ensuring that only real people can leave feedback.
3- Limit One Review per Person per Business – Prevent individuals from posting multiple reviews about the same business to stop targeted attacks.
4- Stronger Fraud Detection & Reporting System – Improve Google’s ability to detect fake reviews and provide a faster, more transparent process for businesses to dispute and remove them.

These changes will help restore trust in Google’s review system, protect Canadian businesses from unjust harm, and ensure that consumers receive honest, unbiased feedback.
