School Board Meeting today Monday, 9/12 @ 5:30 p.m. - Public Hearing on soccer complex property sale

Calling local supporters of the Dubuque soccer community to attend the Public Hearing on the Soccer Complex property sale at the School District Forum on Cheney Rd today at 5:30 p.m. Monday Sept 12th. Bodies in the room shows opposition to selling the property to the private bidder who does not have local soccer's best interests in mind. The public will be given a chance to speak per state law - when a school district sells a property, because the school district is a public entity, run by state and community tax dollars. The DSA (Dubuque Soccer Alliance) spent over $700,000 to develop the property. Selling to the private bidder would mean the school district is taking all the profit and leaving the DSA with nothing of their property investment when they could instead secure the DSA's future for the community with the land - what many believe is owed for DSA's investment. "Charging" the DSA for their land use of the last 30 years should be more than covered in their $1.55 million bid for the property plus the extra $500,000 offered by a Friends of the Soccer Complex donor group this weekend. Any clear process for school district land sales should value public input as part of that process.
