“I would love to see a Trader Joe’s open in Rowland Heights, ideally at STC Rowland Legacy (18991 Colima Rd, Rowland Heights, CA 91748). Our community strongly supports this location!”
The Story
Rowland Heights is one of the most active commercial hubs in the San Gabriel Valley, drawing shoppers from Diamond Bar, City of Industry, Walnut, Hacienda Heights, La Habra Heights, West Covina, and beyond. As residents in Rowland Heights, we take pride in our vibrant local economy and incredibly rich cultural diversity. Yet despite the clear need and strong interest from the community, Rowland Heights still does not have a Trader Joe’s.
While Rowland Heights is a predominantly Asian community with an excellent selection of Asian grocery stores, locals consistently express enthusiasm for Trader Joe’s. Many of us already travel to neighboring cities just to shop there. With no comparable specialty grocer nearby, a Trader Joe’s would attract steady and sustained customer traffic. The recent opening of Sprouts in Hacienda Heights and an Aldi coming into Puente Hills/Rowland Heights area further shows that there is growing demand for high‑quality, non‑Asian grocery options in our region.
As community members, we believe that STC Rowland Legacy, a centrally located, grocery‑anchored shopping center at 18991 Colima Rd, Rowland Heights, CA 91748, is an ideal location for Trader Joe’s. The center is currently being revitalized with new shops, modernized design, upgraded infrastructure, and frequent community‑oriented events. Because it sits along one of the busiest commercial corridors in the area, residents from Rowland Heights and surrounding cities already rely on this location for their daily needs.
Bringing a Trader Joe’s to STC Rowland Legacy would give local families convenient access to the fresh, affordable, and unique grocery options that Trader Joe’s is known for. It would also help support nearby businesses by drawing consistent foot traffic and strengthening the shopping center as a community gathering place.
The San Gabriel Valley is experiencing steady growth, and Rowland Heights sits at the center of that momentum. As the community continues to evolve, a Trader Joe’s would become a valued and lasting asset—one that reflects residents’ lifestyles, preferences, and appreciation for quality food at accessible prices.
We, the residents of Rowland Heights and the surrounding communities, respectfully urge Trader Joe’s decision‑makers to consider opening a new store here. This is a chance to meet clear consumer demand, better serve the region, and invest in a thriving, diverse community. By signing this petition, you are helping advocate for meaningful, positive change in Rowland Heights and the greater San Gabriel Valley.
Summary (TL;DR)
- Rowland Heights is a major SGV hub serving Diamond Bar, Walnut, Hacienda Heights, La Habra Heights, West Covina, and more
- Residents strongly want a Trader Joe’s and currently need to travel elsewhere to shop there (more than 8 miles of driving to the closest Trader Joe's)
- Although the area has many Asian grocery stores, there is demand for more non‑Asian grocery options
- The recent Sprouts opening in Hacienda Heights and an Aldi coming soon to Puente Hills/Rowland Heights area shows this demand is real and growing
- STC Rowland Legacy (18991 Colima Rd) is a revitalized, centrally located grocery‑anchored center that our community believes will be a perfect fit
- A Trader Joe’s would provide fresh, affordable options for families while supporting local businesses
- Now is the ideal time as the San Gabriel Valley and Rowland Heights continue to grow and evolve
