Please join the "Ban Hare Coursing" peaceful protest outside Powerstown Park in Clonmel, County Tipperary in Ireland on Sunday, 3rd February 2019 from 12pm to 2pm.
I know...year follows year and there appears to be no end in sight to this horrific blood sport that shames Ireland. But it's worth remembering that campaigners in other countries have faced exactly the same challenge: Hare coursing was banned in Australia, state by state, until it was finally eradicated (legally) in that country in 1986. Scotland banned it in 2002, England and Wales in 2004, and Northern Ireland (or the "Six Counties" as it is also known) outlawed it in 2011.
Some day, the Republic of Ireland will consign hare coursing to the dungheap of outlawed blood sports, where it will take its rightful place alongside cockfighting, dog fighting and badger baiting.
In the meantime, please, if you can, join the protest on February 3rd outside Ireland's tin-pot amphitheatre, where captive hares will serve as live bait and gamblers will laugh and cheer as terrified animals are hounded, pined to the ground, mauled, or tossed high into the air like rag dolls.
