Hundreds of people turned out on Thursday to join a march against animal cruelty through the streets of Clonmel, County Tipperary. The demo highlighted the ill-treatment of horses whose owners abandon them, the plight of greyhounds dumped or killed when their racing days are over, and and other issues including the continued legality of hare coursing in Ireland: the Irish Coursing Club's national HQ is in Clonmel and the largest hare baiting fixture is held on a racecourse just outside the town.
