The Radisson Blu hotel group, which has outlets worldwide, is under severe pressure to call off a nauseating event planned for the evening of April 14th at its hotel in County Limerick, Ireland. Thanks to all of you who have contacted Radisson Blu or left messages on its Facebook page, the hotel group has been feebly attempting to defend allowing the event on the basis that hare coursing is still legal in Ireland. Some people have received silly responses that fudged the issue completely, hotel PR personnel claiming that Radisson is totally opposed to animal cruelty, but avoiding any reference to the upcoming event. The event planned for the Limerick based Radisson hotel is no minor function. Hare coursers were, up to a few weeks ago, boasting about being able to have their banquet and awards night at the prestigious venue. Cruel hare coursing fixtures at which hares were mauled and had their bone crushed are to be CELEBRATED at the banquet, with speeches delivered praising the so-called “sport” during those captive wild animals were terrorized, injured, or killed in front of cheering fans. But the campaign is having an impact: References to the venue for the event have since been deleted from hare coursing club websites in an apparent effort to ease pressure on the hotel! Please click on the link for an update on the campaign to persuade Radisson Blu to say NO to the hare coursers. And thanks so much to the good people who have already challenged the hotel group on its association with a blood sport that is a CRIMINAL offence in most jurisdictions that once permitted it!
