Dear Supporters,

My sister and I are grateful for your signatures and support in raising awareness of the critical situation at the Health and Disability Commission (HDC).

The alarming rise in complaints (36% above pre-COVID levels in 2022/23) and the unacceptable delays in investigations (we've been waiting over two years ourselves) highlight a system under immense strain. It took the HDC two years to simply ask four doctors to provide independent advice on our complaint. 

Shockingly, instead of addressing this crisis, the government has cut the HDC's budget by 16.5%. This will undoubtedly lead to further delays and increased pressure on an already overwhelmed system.

We know we can't speed up our own complaint, but together, we can make a difference. We can demand change and ensure the HDC has the resources to fulfill its vital role in protecting our healthcare rights.
