I am a little late in sending this message, but I’m very pleased to share that Scouts Canada has announced a return to an aligned membership and program year.

This change directly addresses the concerns raised in this petition, and it’s a meaningful step toward making Scouting simpler and more accessible for families and volunteers alike.

To the more than 600 people who signed, shared, and added thoughtful comments, thank you. Your voices were heard, and they truly made a difference.

I also want to recognize and thank everyone who participated in the Scouts Canada “How Families Join Scouting” research project. Your honest feedback helped highlight the real challenges families and volunteers were facing and played an important role in shaping this outcome.

Finally, thank you to the leadership and staff of Scouts Canada - including past and present National Key 3, Board of Governors, and all those working behind the scenes - for listening, engaging with the concerns raised, and taking action to correct the misalignment. Your willingness to adapt and respond is appreciated by Scouters and families across the country.

This is a great example of how collaboration and open feedback can strengthen our movement.

Thank you all for being part of it.
