Petition is being geared towards Netflix, via Sony Pictures Telelevision, who are the PRODUCERS of the series. Tribune Network was recently purchased by Sinclair Broadcast Group(google them!) WGN is the company under Tribune, along with others. Sony Pictures Television, the studio that produces "Underground," is trying to find it a new home. Some viewers are under the impression that WGN canceled the series, not the case. There are many petitions online and that is fine, but there IS a process to finding a home. The point of a petition is to show networks how big of a following this series has and it has a HUGE following. My petition is using my face because it is recognizable to a lot of people from my being a participant in Spike Lee's HBO documentary about Hurricane Katrina in August of 2005, "When The Levees Broke" and HBO TV Series, "TREME." I was asked by another petitioner to remove my picture because it confuses those looking at the petition, but when a director of "Underground" tells you to "leave your picture, I like it that way" you leave it. So, saying all of this to say, "Let's continue to work together and get this series a home." That is our main goal. Again, Sinclair Broadcast Group purchased Tribune Media for $3.9 BILLION. Tribune owns WGN and co-produced the first season of "Underground" along with Sony Pictures Television. We are moving towards Netflix for a home. I am so passionate about the series that two weeks ago when I started this petition, I reached out to every network I could think of, public figures, movie stars, famous musicians and everyone I could think of to support my efforts. I worked tirelessly, in between filming, auditions, writing and personal life. I watch the "MINTY" episode every morning with breakfast, because it is THAT powerful. The series WILL find a home, it's just a matter of process. "Underground" gave WGN its best monthly prime-time ratings in history in total audience, averaging 446,000 viewers in "live + 3" ratings, a measurement of how many people watched the show live and in the three days following via DVR or encore telecasts." That in and of itself, should not have fans worried that we have NOT seen the last of "Underground." Hashtags; #UndergroundOnNetflix #RiseUp for @undergroundwgn to get picked up by @netflix are the tags to follow. WE can do this, when WE continue to work together and move this forward. Sincerely, Mrs. Phyllis Montana-Leblanc. #phyllismontanaleblanc
