Petition for the Resignation of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Secretary of Health and Human Servi

The Issue

To: President of the United States, Members of Congress, and the American Public

Subject: Urgent Call for the Immediate Resignation of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. from His Role as Secretary of Health and Human Services

Statement of Concern:
Robert F. Kennedy Jr., sworn in as the 26th Secretary of Health and Human Services on February 13, 2025, is entrusted with leading one of the nation’s most critical federal agencies, overseeing a nearly $2 trillion budget and institutions that safeguard public health—including the NIH, CDC, FDA, and CMS

However, under his leadership, HHS has become a source of widespread instability and public concern:
Kennedy has enacted sweeping personnel cuts and restructuring, laying off thousands of employees across minority health offices, FDA, CDC, NIH, and other divisions—moves experts warn may exacerbate health disparities and undermine care for underserved communities.

He has dismantled key scientific structures by replacing the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) with individuals who promote anti-vaccine perspectives and by sidelining CDC scientists—raising concerns about vaccine policy misinformation and erosion of scientific credibility.

The controversial “Make America Healthy Again” (MAHA) Commission, which he chairs, released a report in May 2025 attributing childhood chronic diseases to various environmental factors—but the document has drawn criticism for scientific inaccuracies and AI-generated citation errors.
Public health leaders and former CDC directors have condemned his administration for jeopardizing American health security. More than 1,000 current and former HHS employees have also signed letters calling for his resignation, citing political interference and danger to public institutions.

Kennedy’s leadership has drawn family rebuke, as Joe Kennedy III publicly labeled his leadership a threat to public health and demanded his resignation following a Senate hearing.

Petition Demand:
For the sake of public health integrity, institutional credibility, and the welfare of all Americans, we demand the immediate resignation of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services.

Signed,

[Jamil Whelan, Abilene, Texas]
