PETITION FOR THE IMMEDIATE RELEASE OF MR. LIN
To: U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Department of Homeland Security
We, the undersigned residents, business owners, friends, and supporters of the Mount Morris community, are calling for the immediate release of Mr. Dian Zhao Lin from ICE detention and for his right to fair and proper legal due process to be respected.
For more than 20 years, Mr. Lin has called Mount Morris home. He has raised his family here, operated a successful business, contributed to our local economy, and been part of the community we all share.
Over 20 years is not a temporary stay. It’s a lifetime of relationships, hard work, and commitment to a place he chose to call home.
We recognize that our country has immigration laws and that those laws must be followed. But we also believe that enforcing those laws should involve fairness, common sense, and compassion. A person’s family, history, and contributions to their community should matter.
Mr. Lin is not a stranger to Mount Morris. He is our neighbor. His family is part of our community, and his detention has consequences that reach far beyond him.
We strongly oppose his continued detention and believe he should be allowed to return home to his family while his legal case is addressed.
We are asking ICE to immediately review his case, consider his more than three decades of ties to this community, and exercise its authority to release him while ensuring he receives the full legal due process to which he is entitled.
This petition is not about ignoring the law. It is about asking that the law be applied fairly and that the people enforcing it recognize the human consequences of their decisions.
After more than 20 years of calling Mount Morris home, Mr. Lin deserves the opportunity to be with his family and have his case heard fairly.
We respectfully call upon ICE and the Department of Homeland Security to act without delay.
Bring Mr. Lin home.
