Petition update

1 week update: Debunking the myths and rumours

Greetings to one and all. I would like to debunk some myths and rumours regarding the petition, and also provide a one week update. Do read through for clarifications regarding how this works.

Here’s a couple of doubts and questions I have received over the past week:

1. “Does it really work?” : If each student is this hesitant to sign up, I fear that we may not achieve what we’re aiming for. It’s all about being hopeful and standing up for a cause. Whether it works or not, we will know that later, but for now it is best to sign and spread the news.

2. “Why has the growth reduced”: Yes, it is true that we are gaining less than 50 votes per day since the past 3 days. What can we do about it? Share, share share! This is the most helpful thing you can do for the petitioner. Let’s say you share this with 5 people, and those five people share it with 5 others. Do you see what I’m going for here? Please do share this petition with as many friends, family members, students and well wishers as possible

3. “The council will see this only if it gets x votes”: Okay let me get this straight, that is NOT HOW IT WORKS. Every time the petition is signed, the council will be notified with an email. There is no particular goal or end point that needs to be reached, we just need more voices to support the cause.

With that being said, the petition is one of the top three search results of “ICSE physics” in this website. We have made a remarkable progress of nearly 1500 supporters in 7 days. Glad to see the fellow ICSE students agree with the petition. A big thanks to every single person who signed or shared this petition: it’s because of you that we have come this far.

I really hope and pray that this humble effort will come out in flying colours, all the better for ICSE students!
